Cleveland Street Mortgage started in 1999 with a handshake between former college roommates Ted Robinson and Chris Butaud (with support from our silent partner and friend Vicki Adair and our first employee Karil Gray) who shared a mission to earn an excellent name in the real estate marketplace. The industry has changed a lot during the intervening years, but the mission is still the same.
About Chris Butaud, Owner / Designated Broker
After eleven years in private practice as a CPA, Chris Butaud (NMLS# 13157) got his start in mortgage as Director of Finance of the mortgage brokerage division of a regional bank in the mid 90’s. In the late 90’s Chris founded Cleveland Street Mortgage with the goal of earning an excellent name in the real estate marketplace. Chris’ commitment to the slow business of reputation building has never waivered and continues to be the guiding principle and only ultimate goal in his continued pursuit of mortgage excellence with Cleveland Street Mortgage, LLC. Chris’ background in public accounting has proven to be an invaluable resource to his clients and their underwriters who are the gateways to their housing dreams.
On the personal side, Chris is the incredibly blessed husband of Mary Jean, father of 5 great kids and a growing list of grandchildren and children in law (not necessarily in that order). Chris and Mary Jean were involved in the founding of Providence Classical Christian School in Bothell and they also are deeply involved with their church. Chris enjoys reading (mostly dead guys), watching soccer and playing less bad golf than last year. Chris hates running.
